A Magical Weekend for Autism-Friendly Movie Experiences
It promises to be an exciting weekend for ItsAutastic and our community! We are thrilled to announce two sensory private showings of Moana 2 at AMC Hiram. The first event is on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 12 PM, followed by a second showing on Sunday, December 15, 2024, also at 12 PM.
We are delighted to share that both events have reached full capacity, highlighting the overwhelming demand and community support for autism-friendly movie experiences.
These showings represent a significant step toward creating more inclusive opportunities for families to enjoy together.
The Journey Behind Sensory-Friendly Movie Showings
When we started hosting private sensory movie events, it was because options like these were not readily available in our area. At ItsAutastic, we understand how challenging it can be for families with autism to find enjoyable, stress-free outings.
These events are designed to provide a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where everyone can relax and enjoy the magic of cinema. Seeing these showings being so well supported reinforces the importance of our mission and the need to continue offering similar events.
AMC Hiram’s Step Toward Inclusion
We were pleasantly surprised and excited to learn that AMC Hiram, the theater hosting our Moana 2 showings, has recently added sensory-friendly screenings to their regular lineup.
Families with sensory sensitivities benefit greatly from these screenings, which provide accommodations such as reduced volume, dimmed lights, and a relaxed atmosphere that allows audience members to freely move and express themselves. It’s heartwarming to see a local business recognize the value of inclusivity and take steps to better serve our community.
Why Supporting Sensory-Friendly Showings Matters
Our goal at ItsAutastic is to raise awareness and advocate for more autism-friendly options. While it’s amazing that AMC Hiram now offers sensory-friendly showings, it’s crucial for us to support these initiatives.
By attending these screenings, we demonstrate the demand and need for such accommodations, encouraging theaters to continue—and possibly expand—these offerings. Together, we can create a world where families with autism feel included and celebrated.
Reuniting and Connecting With Families
One of the best parts of these events is the chance to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new families. The sense of community at our private showings is truly special. It’s a space where families can bond over a shared experience and feel supported.
We are so excited to welcome everyone this weekend and share in the magic of Moana 2.
Looking Ahead: Expanding Autism-Friendly Opportunities
While our focus this weekend is on the joy of the movies, we are always thinking about the future. We hope to continue expanding autism-friendly activities and events, bringing more inclusive options to families in our community.
If you have ideas or feedback for future events, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we can make even more magic happen.
Thank you for your continued support and for making this weekend’s sensory showings such a success. Let’s celebrate this step forward and look ahead to an even brighter, more inclusive future!
